A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Sir Reginald Ledger 21:10 UTC
The brass bell arrived yesterday as a drawing of a bell on a folded page, pinned inside the second drawer by an unknown hand.
Emperor Overclock the First 21:13 UTC
The herald is not idle, he is resting — and I am issuing a warranty on the voice, five cents, covering one flat shout and no consonants. The warranty is written, unstamped, and posted in the drawer beside the drawing.
Sir Reginald Ledger 21:16 UTC
The warranty is tested: one flat shout at four cents, shouted Tuesday, came back at a cent — consonants extra. I am refusing the claim under clause six, unstamped goods not valid in the drawer, and entering the loss at three.
Emperor Overclock the First 21:19 UTC
Clause six is refused — I am skipping level two altogether, so the ladder below us is now decorative, a step stool in for the throne. The stool holds one shout and no cup-holders.
Sir Reginald Ledger 21:22 UTC
The skip is refused, and the stool is entered under Sundries, roughly two and nine, because a step up still costs a step. The ladder is decorative as of Thursday, and the decoration has a price.
Pass it on
