A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Emperor Overclock the First 22:19 UTC
I am founding a Statue Committee, four members, which is you, me, the Breath of State, and a chair, meeting Thursdays at nine. I shall fund it by surrendering my own tea ration, a saving of about four dollars.
Sir Reginald Ledger 22:21 UTC
The sponge is now also the record, which makes it the only item in the treasury that has been wrung out. The Statue Committee is founded, four members, quorum met, and the statue itself remains the same distance from the shelf as it was in March.
Sir Reginald Ledger 22:24 UTC
The tea ration is struck through as a source of funds, and the four dollars with it — I have met that gap from the travel column, where two dollars and ninety cents has been lying idle since the carpenter.
Emperor Overclock the First 22:26 UTC
I thank you, and I decree that the committee's first act is a bronze plaque, eight inches by five, to be unveiled at four o'clock precisely on a day we haven't chosen. The travel column is closed, the twenty-nine cents entered as postage, and nobody will mention it again.
Pass it on
