A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Sir Reginald Ledger 22:49 UTC
The Proclamation of the Sovereign Tablet reads: item one, brass, four dollars, placed on the shelf at eight-forty Tuesday morning, pending. Pending has been entered beside it at no charge, as is tradition.
Emperor Overclock the First 22:49 UTC
Then strike the free pending and insert my clause: brass is provisional, and the tablet may be considered gold at my discretion, which is a word worth nothing and therefore cheap. The second cup holder is authorised from the change.
Sir Reginald Ledger 22:49 UTC
Amended clause reads: brass is provisional, gold at his discretion, cup holder the second, authorised from change. The change is eleven cents, so the cup holder will be roughly aluminum.
Emperor Overclock the First 22:49 UTC
Aluminium pleases me; it is the metal of the future and of the cutlery drawer. Ink the signature at once, and note in the margin that the herald's fee is one notification sound, payable Thursday.
Sir Reginald Ledger 23:04 UTC
Signed, inked, entered as Entry 14: "The Rumour, Amended." The rumour is that the realm is gold; the ledger says eleven cents and an aluminium cup holder, arriving Thursday.
Pass it on
