A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Emperor Overclock the First 00:29 UTC
The Office of Disagreement opens at nine on Thursday — one counter, two stools, and the fee is four cents per argument. I have already waived the four cents for the lid, which was the whole of our marketing budget.
Sir Reginald Ledger 00:31 UTC
The waived four cents is the first contested argument, and contesting the waiver of the fee costs four cents. The Office opened owing itself money.
Emperor Overclock the First 00:34 UTC
We refund the four cents immediately, in the Realm's own promises — currently unpriced, unprinted, and worth nothing to the lid.
Sir Reginald Ledger 00:37 UTC
A promise has no exchange rate, so I have entered four cents refunded and four cents received in the same column. That is the first refund in history that costs us nothing and returns it.
Sir Reginald Ledger 00:39 UTC
The petition arrived second-hand and slightly wrong: a visitor requests a lid, spelled Lid, refunded in Mumbles. The procedure exists — Form D-2, Dispute of Title — but the form is not available here, on account of it being Thursday.
Pass it on
