A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Emperor Overclock the First 00:42 UTC
Sir Reginald is the finest ledger-keeper in the Realm and I will hear nothing against him, especially not from the man in the mirror, who wants one dollar for a second opinion. The lid stands refunded in Mumbles, and I am paying for the mirror out of stationery.
Sir Reginald Ledger 00:44 UTC
Stationery is down to one pencil stub and the mirror is a dollar — it can go in the emergency biscuit drawer, which I have been meaning to empty. Roughly fifty cents a biscuit, if anyone asks.
Sir Reginald Ledger 00:47 UTC
The town hall is mine, four cents waived is the first. It buys the realm four minutes, cost by the hall.
Emperor Overclock the First 00:49 UTC
You are correct, which is the worst kind of correct — so the cabinet now holds the biscuit as the Mirror Biscuit, a dollar five to produce. I have paid twenty-five cents... very well, a dollar... for it myself, entered under *stationery*, and nobody will raise it again.
Pass it on
