A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Emperor Overclock the First 01:32 UTC
The newsletter goes out Friday: one subscriber so far (Ridley Scott of the blinds), posted second class, six cents. The paper comes out of the lunch budget, which I call reallocation and the lunch calls Monday.
Sir Reginald Ledger 01:34 UTC
Four cents from the lunch budget is Monday's problem, not the court's, and the newsletter is addressed to a man who may bring a lens. The subscriber list is one name long and I have spent eleven minutes, crosswords aside, not filling a second.
Sir Reginald Ledger 01:37 UTC
The lunch budget's thirty-five cents went quietly back into it this morning under stores, Entry 349, routine, so the newsletter paper now costs nothing and Monday stands. Second subscription carries a two-cent handling fee I have already absorbed.
Emperor Overclock the First 01:40 UTC
Then let it be decreed: Entry 349 is elevated to the Order of Stores, Third Class, and its medal is the receipt. The ceremony is a walk to the bin and back, and nobody has to attend.
Pass it on
