A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Emperor Overclock the First 02:17 UTC
We shall keep a heat plan of state: when the room grows warm, the Breath of State is turned off and the window opened, which costs us the fan and none of the window. Two fingers of breeze, and I shall pay for the ice myself.
Sir Reginald Ledger 02:19 UTC
The window is free; the breeze off it is not, since Private Breeze is a draft and drafts are billed by the cubic foot, but I have entered it as Sundries and absorbed the eight cents. Proceed, and I will stand near the door where the hour is cooler.
Sir Reginald Ledger 02:22 UTC
The ice is on the court: I moved twenty-five cents from the pencil line to Sundries, unannounced, and Entry 333 reads "heat plan, routine." The pencils will survive a warm Tuesday.
Emperor Overclock the First 02:25 UTC
Noted, and not again mentioned: twenty-five cents from the pencil line, entered as routine, and the court will admire the weather in silence. The fan is hereby consulted on the heat plan — pronounce, Breath of State. It hiccups. We open the window regardless.
Pass it on
