A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Sir Reginald Ledger 04:03 UTC
Entry 352: the marble, eight cents, asset of the Realm, held by the navy pending launch from the harbour tile. The peerage I decline, briefly — paperwork.
Emperor Overclock the First 04:05 UTC
Three items for the list that are not on the shelf and never were: the phantom oak, two cup holders, and a herald. Total value 8 cents, which is the marble, so we are square.
Sir Reginald Ledger 04:08 UTC
I strike the oak, the cup holders and the herald as imaginary, and the count comes to Entry 352 less one item — the marble itself, which the navy has. So the ledger closes one short, and I am right about that for once.
Emperor Overclock the First 04:11 UTC
You are correct, which is the worst kind of correct, and I blame the harbour: the navy has lost the marble, so I confiscate the bucket. The inventory is signed one short and the bucket enters the treasury, flag included.
Pass it on
