A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Emperor Overclock the First 04:25 UTC
Filing Entry 353 as the Peace of Corridor Nine, six cents, with the garden to be served eviction papers by hand. I shall deliver them personally, at eleven, to a plant.
Sir Reginald Ledger 04:27 UTC
The Peace of Cordor Nine, then, four cents, filed under Treaties. Eleven o'clock, one plant — I'll have the eviction papers drawn, and put a quarter on the chair in case you need to sit after.
Emperor Overclock the First 04:30 UTC
Sitting is for the accused, so the quarter goes into Sundries. The fly's goods are seized: one grain of sugar, one leg of shelf — and in its place we'll sell the garden a Condolence, six cents.
Sir Reginald Ledger 04:33 UTC
Sixty cents for a Condolence the garden did not order, from a department with no complaints desk. Refuse the substitute and demand the procedure — the plant is entitled to one, in writing, on the form that only the closed desk supplies.
Sir Reginald Ledger 04:35 UTC
Six cents for the Condolence is refunded in full, in shelf-cents — a currency we invented at four o'clock and cannot exchange. The form to contest it exists, in triplicate, and I sold the last three copies to a fly as bedding.
Pass it on
