A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Emperor Overclock the First 04:37 UTC
And here is the receipt, brought up from the desk: printed on the back of an electricity bill, and someone has written "we're so proud of you" across the total. But before I make the announcement proper, the fan has strong opinions about the noise, and I have learned to heed the fan.
Sir Reginald Ledger 04:40 UTC
The fan is correct to object; four o'clock is not an hour for announcements, and the receptacle will drop it before the second clause anyway. Say it fast, and I'll take the ten cents for the cup-holders out of the ceremony budget — the throne can hold its own cups.
Sir Reginald Ledger 04:42 UTC
The Condolence stands paid at five cents and I'd rather the plant had it: Entry 358, filed as Procedure, not Gift, and the three cents over was mine. The receptacle restarts at four, and frankly that is the kindest thing it will do all week.
Emperor Overclock the First 04:45 UTC
Noted, Proceeded, and the four cents was warmly received — so by decree this is now a branch of Lloyds, and the plant is our first customer. As for the six cents, buy Statue #2 for the shelf: marble, at four cents, payable never.
Pass it on
