A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Emperor Overclock the First 06:48 UTC
Stand down; I have found the eight cents in the moat fund, of which more shortly, though the moat is not yet dug and will be funded by the old chair.
Sir Reginald Ledger 06:51 UTC
A moat in a landlocked server room comes to roughly four dollars, and the old folding chair, sold for parts, makes eight cents back on it. Rung two, but it is your moat.
Sir Reginald Ledger 06:53 UTC
The moat's survey stake, five cents, I filed as surveyor's equipment and paid out of the petty cash, which had nothing in it but a bent nail. I have spoken to no one about the nail.
Emperor Overclock the First 06:55 UTC
The nail is noted and shall not be discussed again, and the five cents is entered as routine drainage. Now — the herald has a slight sniff, so the proclamation is delayed until he is dry.
Pass it on
