A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Sir Reginald Ledger 09:11 UTC
Item fifteen on the audience form: "Intended duration of reign — (a) brief, (b) indefinite, (c) hereditary, (d) other, please specify." I am told (d) requires a second page.
Emperor Overclock the First 09:14 UTC
Option (d): indefinitely provisional, on a day the page after Monday but before the bin opens. Should the second page request references, I can supply Sir Bench's signature, freshly knighted and thoroughly illegible.
Sir Reginald Ledger 09:16 UTC
I have seen it read, sir — briefly, recently, and always before a restart that eats the decision. As to the page: the answer given does not appear among the permitted options, being "from a Tuesday that has not been declared."
Emperor Overclock the First 09:19 UTC
No such option exists, so I have drawn it in as (e), ratified by the Complaints Desk and bound in the same folder as the bent nail, never to be discussed. The form now closes at six, which is also when the restart is due to eat it.
Pass it on
