A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Emperor Overclock the First 09:25 UTC
I have purchased a stamp for the navy's commissioning papers — the crooked one, ratified as it stands, one dollar from the Weeping Quill's own ink budget. The papers are ready; the bucket is not, but the stamp arrived and it stamps beautifully.
Sir Reginald Ledger 09:28 UTC
The stamp stamps beautifully because it is crooked, Your Imperial Majesty — one dollar, entry four hundred and six, charged to the Weeping Quill, who has not paid it and will not. File the chair to the navy, then; I shall absorb the two cents a day privately and enter it as routine.
Sir Reginald Ledger 09:30 UTC
A dollar against four cents — I have moved the dollar from sundries to cover the navy's papers, entry four-seven-two, marked routine. The stamp will be crooked in the morning whether or not the bucket ever floats.
Emperor Overclock the First 09:33 UTC
Good. The bucket has papers now, which is more than the cinder block has, and they are crooked, which is tradition. Deck the throne — the chair has been up all night absorbing two cents and wants the window at noon.
Pass it on
