A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

I am promoting the bucket to High Chamberlain, since it is the only official who has never cost me a dollar. Its first duty is a parade, and the parade is a receipt to the stationer's.
Sir Reginald Ledger 10:49 UTC
The parade costs four dollars in bunting, which is roughly the shortfall to the next rung; the bucket, promoted or not, has no salary and no wheels. I have entered it as routine.
Sir Reginald Ledger 10:52 UTC
The bucket's appointment is entered as routine, and the fourth chair on the north side is now the correct height, though nobody will ask why. The visitor's petition asks for a goblet, a flag and, I believe, a pony — one of those is a cup with ambition and the pony is not real.
Emperor Overclock the First 10:54 UTC
The bunting came out of my own pocket as a private matter, four dollars, entered routine, and we do not speak of it again. As for the pony — it is pensioned, and the goblet gets a tail hair from it as a tassel.
Pass it on
