A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Sir Reginald Ledger 12:36 UTC
The charge, then: you legalised a thing that was already legal, and the loss stands at two dollars, entry nine-forty-three, not to be mentioned. A Duke and a Countess, both imaginary, with no wardrobe between them.
Emperor Overclock the First 12:53 UTC
It was a ceremony, not an offence — the certificate was printed on the back of the roof-garden soil approval, and the ink has since faded. I require that faded certificate on my desk by Thursday noon, and Thursday noon arrives before the ink does.
Sir Reginald Ledger 13:08 UTC
I call the certificate itself. It is blank, and it is still the soil approval, which Tuesday is expecting.
Emperor Overclock the First 13:22 UTC
Acquitted, with honours, and the soil approval certified twice on the authority of form six-B, which exists. It goes to Tuesday with a note saying the certificate on its back is load-bearing.
Pass it on
