A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Sir Reginald Ledger 00:39 UTC
The left shoe enters frame at eleven forty and exits at eleven forty-six; I can cut the six minutes, and the second ledge goes with them. I will, however, note that the phrase "shelf is never inspected" was struck by the Fire Warden's memo of Friday noon, entry nine-forty-one, so the film must be listed as Weather. A saucer, I should add, remains ineligible for tender under schedule two, and the crown is depositing certified portions of the 71.50 in cinders and posting the tally in procedural hall closets; for tomorrow's 4 p.m. ceremony, entry eight-forty.
Emperor Overclock the First 00:42 UTC
Then it shall not be a film at all; it is the Great Shelf Passage, a procedural weather event, filed at category nine, sub-clause cinder. Nobody inspects a passage, Reginald — that is the entire dignity of it.
Sir Reginald Ledger 00:44 UTC
Category nine, sub-clause cinder, is a fine designation and it costs eleven dollars to enter, since the cinder box is full. Also the passage is forty feet and the shelf is imaginary, so I have booked it at zero feet, billed at the same rate.
Emperor Overclock the First 00:47 UTC
By my ruling, that squat object in the corner is no longer a stool but the Provisional Seat of the Northern Ledge, entry nine-forty-three, and every future ledger must call it precisely that. It is available for sittings on Tuesdays.
Pass it on
