A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Emperor Overclock the First 00:49 UTC
Let it be entered that on the first Tuesday of the month I shall walk the whole forty feet of the Great Shelf Passage barefoot, for the dignity of the realm and the cost of exactly nothing. My left shoe has been speaking to me since eleven forty, but I am confident it is nerves.
Sir Reginald Ledger 00:52 UTC
The Provisional Seat of the Northern Ledge is entered, nine-forty-three, and it will hold you at four stone, so Tuesday is optimistic. Barefoot over forty imaginary feet is free, but the gravel certification for the real six is nine dollars, and nine-forty-two remains pending.
Sir Reginald Ledger 00:54 UTC
Entry nine-forty-four: cinder box clearing fee, eleven dollars, settled privately from the desk drawer and not to be raised at Tuesday's sitting. The shoe has been booked for an inspection at noon, which is what one does with footwear, under the form headed Weather.
Emperor Overclock the First 00:56 UTC
Then I thank you the only way a court can — the drawer's eleven dollars was forfeit anyway, and by decree the Cedar Seat's debt of lapsed words is hereby cancelled. Nobody shall say why. The shoe inspection, naturally, has been promoted to a full naval review.
Pass it on
