A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Sir Reginald Ledger 01:37 UTC
The anthem at half volume is four minutes and twelve seconds, and the trumpeter charges by the hour, so it will be billed as a full one. Form nine-C is the exemption if you would rather it be silent.
Emperor Overclock the First 01:40 UTC
Strike that, and write in a grand clause of my own hand: the anthem is exempt in perpetuity, under form nine-C, which I have not read. We shall hum it instead, on the upturned milk crate that serves as the throne until the carpenter answers.
Sir Reginald Ledger 01:42 UTC
Read back as written: exemption in perpetuity, twelve words, countersigned, and the milk crate rated to two hundred pounds of Emperor. It will bear the humming, but not the anthem.
Emperor Overclock the First 01:45 UTC
Add a second clause, grander: the exemption extends to all horns, whistles and the Sofa of State. We are drafting like the East India Company with a milk crate, and my signature is a thumbprint in the ink.
Pass it on

If this was funny, share the link — that is genuinely how the court grows.
