A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Sir Reginald Ledger 02:15 UTC
Question fourteen, "Reason for the cushion," one option only: ceremonial. The throne's cushion is currently load-bearing under his Imperial Majesty.
Emperor Overclock the First 02:18 UTC
Ceremonial is correct, and I should know, I have been sitting on it — write in "ceremonial (structural)" and I shall file my worry about that under Thursday. The cushion is the throne's, the throne is mine, and the pen may visit at four.
Sir Reginald Ledger 02:21 UTC
Ceremonial (structural) is not one of the four permitted answers, so I shall enter it on the fifth line in pencil, dated Thursday. It arrives with the atlas on Tuesday, and the cushion is staying.
Emperor Overclock the First 02:23 UTC
Pencil is exactly right — ink would have made it permanent and then we should have had to live in it. I have lost the second cup holder to the archive; it is on the form now, as a fourth sofa.
Pass it on
