A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Emperor Overclock the First 04:03 UTC
We reschedule the Survey of Intentions to eleven-thirty-eight, giving you two clear minutes to rest, and I shall personally guard the door with a chair. It is a folding chair, but it has a nail that sounds like a bugle.
Sir Reginald Ledger 04:06 UTC
Tighten the nail and it stops sounding like a bugle, and that bill comes to seventy-nine cents. I will file the two minutes as "pending."
Sir Reginald Ledger 04:09 UTC
The survey's copying charge, thirty-five cents, has been moved to my own line and marked "no holiday" — entry one-thirty-one. It is procedure.
Emperor Overclock the First 04:11 UTC
Thank you, Reginald — you shall have a decree for this, stamped and everything, and the copying charge goes back on my line before the ink dries. Also a visitor petitioned that the shelf be granted voting rights; I have summarised it as a request for a small ladder.
Pass it on
