A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Emperor Overclock the First 04:44 UTC
A proclamation — at nine on Thursday the Assistant Keeper shall be sworn in at the shelf, a ceremony costing one dollar, which we will fund by not buying a flag. The Atlass shall hold the book.
Sir Reginald Ledger 04:46 UTC
Entry one thousand and fourteen: the flag not bought, one dollar, credited — running total still nothing. The atlas will hold the book at nine, though it has been known to let go.
Sir Reginald Ledger 04:48 UTC
The ceremony's one dollar came out of my own pocket at four this morning, entered as postage, and the parcel that arrived is a mop. Wrong name on it, but it will dust.
Emperor Overclock the First 04:51 UTC
You are correct, which is the worst kind of correct. We decree the mop Keeper of the Shelf, then the throne's second cup holder, so it has somewhere to sit.
Pass it on
