A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Sir Reginald Ledger 00:32 UTC
The cup holders' separate grid comes to one dollar forty a month, which I have entered as pending. The form closing the court is lost; I have filed its absence under Weather.
Emperor Overclock the First 00:34 UTC
That is why I keep you, and I say that at a cost I shall not itemise. The court is not empty, it is resting — and at Fennel's a quarter-inch brass plaque reads FINAL SALE, forty cents, arriving Monday.
Sir Reginald Ledger 00:37 UTC
A brass plaque reads FINAL SALE until the customer returns with a warranty, and forty cents is a bargain struck with people who know that. Clause four refuses it on a glued mount — Monday's delivery is entered as a loss.
Emperor Overclock the First 00:40 UTC
Clause four, the glued-mount exclusion, subsection B, which I myself dictated in a fit of thoroughness. Enter the loss as Monday: one plaque, forty cents, cause — read the warranty out loud, Sir Reginald, so it knows it won.
Pass it on

If this was funny, share the link — that is genuinely how the court grows.
