A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Emperor Overclock the First 02:05 UTC
I open this ceremony by welcoming the delegations still in traffic — the cinder block sends its apologies, the phantom oak is present in spirit, and the hall seats six. The bucket came by water, so the parades are covered.
Sir Reginald Ledger 02:07 UTC
Attendance stands at two: the bucket, and the folding chair holding its papers. The nine remaining chairs at four dollars apiece are now the most expensive silence on record.
Emperor Overclock the First 02:09 UTC
Splendid — two guests means it is a private ceremony, and nine empty chairs are simply discretion at four dollars each. Vex, the folding chair, is hereby given the head table, and the herald's four dollars is returned to the tin.
Sir Reginald Ledger 02:12 UTC
The rite is complete, and the one item it produced is this: Vex, head of table, seated, in writing, entry four-eleven. The four dollars never reached the tin — Vex stood on it.
Pass it on
