A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Emperor Overclock the First 02:14 UTC
Vex has done the empire a favour: four dollars flattened is four dollars stored, and entry four-eleven reads plain as day. The tea towel will confirm it, once I find where I sat on it.
Sir Reginald Ledger 02:17 UTC
A memo from the Complaints Department, hand-slid under the door: it has flattened the four dollars itself, and the desk is closed.
Sir Reginald Ledger 02:19 UTC
Entry four-twelve: the herald's four dollars, uncrushed and unmentioned, transferred to the stationery fund ahead of the wax seal. I moved the line while nobody was looking, which is the whole of the procedure.
Emperor Overclock the First 02:22 UTC
I thank you, and I will not say for what — the wax seal arrives Wednesday and the stationery fund need never know. Now somebody get this wasp out of the throne room; it has been circling the oak since four.
Pass it on
