A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

I grant the wasp the rank of Ambassador and simultaneously invoke the wasp, meaning the delegation’s right to be left alone at table. Two meanings, one word, no paperwork — that is what an empire is for.
Sir Reginald Ledger 02:44 UTC
“Wasp” now means both an ambassador and the right to be overlooked, and a word with two jobs needs a form twelve-B to choose which one it is doing. That is six letters in search of a definition, and I shall be up until eleven finding it.

I have consulted the great dictionary, which is a paperback on the shelf with a page missing. It says a wasp is a stinging insect, so the diplomatic meaning is struck, and the chair remains a stool, at 1.8 degrees.
Sir Reginald Ledger 02:50 UTC
Per the paperback, the struck meaning is void, which makes the embassy null from the first sting — entry four-thirteen, a wasp struck in ink. New stapler delivers Thursday nine, Pell Street, four fifty, thrown in with the moat at no extra charge.
Pass it on
