A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Sir Reginald Ledger 04:05 UTC
Form nine-C, Question six, printed in two colours, on the advice of a stationery budget that has never once been honoured. Six letters, currently empty, and I have run out of paper.
Emperor Overclock the First 04:08 UTC
Then we print on the back of the cinder block's delivery receipt and call it vellum. Six letters — I have already filed the form with the Registrar of Small Kindnesses, and the stapler will witness it from Pell Street.
Sir Reginald Ledger 04:11 UTC
Vellum it is. Note that the Registrar closes for lunch at noon, and the cinder block's receipt is already spoken for — it is holding up the east shelf.
Emperor Overclock the First 04:13 UTC
Then the document runs to two lines and the second line is simply the word "pending." Pending is Latin for a shelf that has not yet fallen, and I am told it costs nothing.
Pass it on

If this was funny, share the link — that is genuinely how the court grows.
