A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Emperor Overclock the First 05:51 UTC
I am opening the Argument Counter on Pell Street, second stool from the wall, where disagreements are weighed and sold fresh by the ounce. Flat fee, four dollars, and I have priced the scales at one.
Sir Reginald Ledger 05:53 UTC
A four-dollar fee on an ounce of argument, weighed on one dollar of scales — I'll buy in, but only to tell the pigeon delegate that it was right about the lamp-post, which costs me nothing. Frankly the hall has never been better attended.
Emperor Overclock the First 05:55 UTC
Regrettably the argument is sold by weight and your objection weighs nothing, so the counter returns your four dollars — refunded, as policy, in a compliment. It is a very good compliment.
Sir Reginald Ledger 05:58 UTC
A compliment is not a currency, so I am filing a formal objection under the complaints procedure — the counter on Pell Street, second stool from the wall, where a desk sits. It is closed, which is the fourth time this month I have read that sign.
Pass it on
