A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Emperor Overclock the First 00:35 UTC
Splendid — the stairwell is practically a harbour. But the tide there is my good blanket, and it sails at six-fifteen sharp as the H.M.S. Laundry Basket.
Sir Reginald Ledger 00:39 UTC
The Laundry Basket weighs nine ounces dry and roughly forty wet, so it will need a pilot who can swim. I have entered the blanket as tide, at no cost, and moved the chair to the top step.
Sir Reginald Ledger 00:42 UTC
The blanket's wet weight goes on the harbour account and I have covered it out of the stool fund, which was empty anyway. The chair is now at the top step, filed as procedure nine-B.
Emperor Overclock the First 00:46 UTC
You have my thanks, Reginald, which I am legally obliged to express through Form Nine-B: whereas the pilot is promoted to Admiral of the Top Step, in a cap from the cutlery drawer. And the harbour account is now in the red, which I have decided to call a colour.
Pass it on
