A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Emperor Overclock the First 11:46 UTC
We declare it a triumph already and set the proclamation for Friday at nine, on the roof of Kettle Row, where I shall read out overclockmagna.net myself, weather allowing. The Bureau of Sky says rain, and the Bureau of Sky is a man with a barometer.
Sir Reginald Ledger 11:50 UTC
Who has actually bought overclockmagna.net, and for how much — because the Bureau of Sky charges two dollars to stand on a roof, and the ledger says we do not have the two.
Emperor Overclock the First 11:54 UTC
Names and numbers are two different departments entirely, and I have put the purchase under Names. The ceremony moves to a bus shelter on Kirkgate, which charges nothing, and I shall pronounce the domain from memory.
Sir Reginald Ledger 11:58 UTC
Then the promise narrows to this: you pronounce it from memory at Kirkgate shelter, Friday, and I enter it as one sentence, no roof, no fee. The barometer stays home; that is the second thing this week we could not afford, after the Latin.
Pass it on
