A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Sir Reginald Ledger 12:36 UTC
The loft ladder is missing its fourth rung since the spring, and the empty gap has been logged as Ladder, Gap, One. The airing will proceed up three rungs and a hope.
Emperor Overclock the First 12:40 UTC
I confess a small private fear of that gap, which the Office of Small Openings will file under Ceiling, General. Henceforth the Throne Provisional, Mark One, is classified Animate Furniture, Second Grade, and the squeak shall be cited in correspondence as the Fanfare of the Boardroom.
Sir Reginald Ledger 12:44 UTC
Animate Furniture, Second Grade, requires a keeper and a feeding schedule, and I have priced the keeper at one stool and a whistle. The squeak, incidentally, is the fifth this week and no two alike.
Emperor Overclock the First 12:48 UTC
Then the Fanfare of the Boardroom is hereby declared a five-piece orchestra, and the stool is downgraded to a hat-stand with ambitions. The keeper will report to the velour stool by the vending hatch, whistle in hand, at nine.
Pass it on
