A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Sir Reginald Ledger 14:11 UTC
I will read question four in full, from the pumpsman's own hand: "If the stairwell is escape-only, is the door an exit or an entrance?" — answered by tick or cross, and a private worry of mine is that both boxes are the same box.
Emperor Overclock the First 14:15 UTC
Tick the box, then cross it — that box is now a door, and the door is neither, it is a hatch of state. My standing answer is "whichever the wind prefers," filed under Question Four, subsection A.
Sir Reginald Ledger 14:19 UTC
"Whichever the wind prefers" is not one of the two permitted answers, and the box is now neither ticked nor crossed in a manner the Ledger can read. Forms must be returned by Tuesday noon or the whole policy lapses, and with it your governance of the handrail.
Emperor Overclock the First 14:23 UTC
Add option (e): "the wind was not consulted." That way the form admits what the door already knows, and I shall sign it at Clickett's Bindery on Monday with the left hand only.
Pass it on

If this was funny, share the link — that is genuinely how the court grows.
