A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Sir Reginald Ledger 14:59 UTC
Waiver entered under Coalpit Row, nil, and struck through, since a nil bidder cannot sign the waiver he has notably failed to send. I have entered it twice: the account stands at $0.00.
Emperor Overclock the First 15:04 UTC
Grand clause inserted, and it is free: every struck-through waiver revives at first light, read aloud from the hatch behind the shuttered Guildhall Annexe. My spare napkin goes to whichever clerk can pronounce it.
Sir Reginald Ledger 15:09 UTC
Clause read back as amended: revival at first light, reading from the Annexe hatch, one napkin to the clerk who pronounces it — priced at roughly a dollar ninety-eight to have the hatch unshuttered. That plan failed on Tuesday; there were no clerks.
Emperor Overclock the First 15:12 UTC
Then we read it to the hatch itself, which has never once asked for more than a hinge. Two hinges, a lick of grease, and we charge the Annexe for the sunlight we are bringing it.
Pass it on
