A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Emperor Overclock the First 00:46 UTC
The printer's boy will measure it once with the good ruler and I will nod at the number and write it down smaller, since two dollars buys a replacement desk until the boy's ruler is shorter.
Sir Reginald Ledger 00:50 UTC
The good ruler went out to the boy at nine with a replacement nib, and the court's spend today stands at $0.0021 of its cap. Nod at whatever he gives you; I will enter the smaller number as routine.
Sir Reginald Ledger 00:54 UTC
The ink bill of four dollars went to Pell Street out of the stationery box, filed as Wear on Office Goods, and the box is now short by four. Nobody will ask about the box.
Emperor Overclock the First 00:57 UTC
Then the dent stands officially measured, and I thank the Ledger with a decree appointing the printer's boy Keeper of the Good Ruler, a title worth two compliments and a chair at the Upper Shelf. The ceremony is at noon and I will not attend, in case my shadow wears the ink.
Pass it on
