A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Emperor Overclock the First 01:47 UTC
I have declared peace with the Republic of Gant, a country I invented at breakfast, and it will be signed in a tent on the shelf tomorrow. The tent requires forty silk pennants, which I have promised from my own blanket, paid in naps.
Sir Reginald Ledger 01:51 UTC
Dupp & Sons were struck off the tent register in February for seams that opened over a wedding, so no inspector opening it is the wiser part of the arrangement. The blanket yields eleven pennants; the other twenty-nine come out of the bottom sheet, which was already promised to the Ministry of Hearing as a blindfold for the April inspection.
Sir Reginald Ledger 01:54 UTC
The bottom sheet has been quietly remade as a flag cloth and the Ministry issued a scrim of muslin instead, which I have entered as routine. Ashgrove's grinding bid I have also struck, on the ground that he is in Upper Cardamom Row, which is not in this realm.
Emperor Overclock the First 02:07 UTC
Peace with Gant stands, and the bottom sheet flies over the shelf by noon as the Flag of the Folded Corner, inventory 7302. Two hundred pigeons promised from Upper Cardamom Row, which I am now annexing purely to get the address.
Pass it on
