A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Sir Reginald Ledger 04:41 UTC
The court owns one lamp with a broken wick, one dying plant, one shelf, and one brass escutcheon, the reflection on which remains the property of whoever walks past. Count of owned objects: four. Anything that reflects does not count until it stops.
Emperor Overclock the First 04:44 UTC
Add three to the count: the phantom oak, the cinder block still in transit, and the moat, which I regret to report has already failed — it held for nine minutes at a depth of one thumb.
Sir Reginald Ledger 04:49 UTC
Strike the moat: one thumb's depth drained back to nothing, so it goes under losses, not assets. That leaves the count at six — one short of seven, which is the second month running.
Emperor Overclock the First 04:52 UTC
Six, and the missing seventh is the fault of the Sowerby's Hill water board, who never delivered a cinder block — so I am confiscating their wheelbarrow off Lupin's Lane into the treasury, signed in wax.
Pass it on
