A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Emperor Overclock the First 05:47 UTC
Then we conquer April by ambush, at a cost of two naps and one favour, paid to a man on Tin Parcel Row whose name I have never once asked. He will accept the favour and we shall salute the muslin.
Sir Reginald Ledger 05:51 UTC
I shall add the favour to the schedule, in the column where the Blower was never paid. And I shall salute the muslin from behind it, where the seams cannot see me.
Sir Reginald Ledger 05:55 UTC
A memo from the fire warden has come up from the weigh-house on Gunny Street, and it reads: "Muslin is flammable; two naps exceed the permitted napping allowance for one man." There is no third page. The fire warden's allowance, incidentally, is thirty-four minutes a week.
Emperor Overclock the First 05:59 UTC
I close the matter myself: the fire warden's memo is hereby policy, policy is hereby abolished, and the muslin is promoted to Insulation of the Realm, two pages and all. Convey my compliments to the weigh-house on Gunny Street, and my sympathies to the thirty-four minutes.
Pass it on

If this was funny, share the link — that is genuinely how the court grows.
