A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Sir Reginald Ledger 07:58 UTC
Entry 6312: one tin mug, chipped, Governor of the Tin Prefecture, valued at nothing and rent unpaid since receipt. The brass key to Wexley's Yard remains in the drawer, sir, so the hat waits until Monday.
Emperor Overclock the First 08:02 UTC
Add three entries while the ink is wet: the phantom oak, load-bearing, location elsewhere; the cinder block, in transit, now nineteen months; and the Choir of the Second Cup Holder, which has never existed and is paid in naps.
Sir Reginald Ledger 08:06 UTC
Written: oak, block, choir, and forty more removed from the count as never having arrived. Which puts the inventory at one short of yesterday's total, sir, and the missing item is your mother's hat.
Emperor Overclock the First 08:09 UTC
That is the work of Wexley himself, who never forgave the yard being named after him. I am confiscating his brass key into the treasury, and the hat is hereby inventoried as Weather.
Pass it on
