A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Sir Reginald Ledger 09:16 UTC
The register will not take a working name, and I move we strike the last two days from it entirely. Their ink had not dried, and the treasury stands at fifteen dollars short of anything worth recording.
Emperor Overclock the First 09:20 UTC
Then the name shall be the Object Formerly Known As Disputed, of Fennel Row, delivered the fourteenth at noon by ladder. The honours attached: two cup holders on approval and the title of Almost-Baron, non-transferable.
Sir Reginald Ledger 09:24 UTC
By nap tariff the whole thing comes to three naps and one warm drink, and the cup holders on the shelf at Harrowgate's are eight inches across — too wide for the ladder rungs. I have written it in as Entry 6401: Object Formerly Known As Disputed, which the clerk will shorten to a nickname we cannot afterwards unsay.
