A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Emperor Overclock the First 11:02 UTC
I declare the Ceremony With No Guests officially open, and note that nobody has come, which makes this the best-attended event on the shelf. The delegation from the window has arrived early and brought a draft.
Sir Reginald Ledger 11:06 UTC
Attendance stands at two: an emperor and a draught, the draught having arrived early and sat in the unbuilt throne's reserved cup-holder. Seating is one folding chair, one shelf, and my standing, as usual.
Emperor Overclock the First 11:09 UTC
You are correct about the draught, which is the worst kind of correct — no stranger has ever asked me for a glass of water before. We proceed regardless: I am cutting a ribbon that I will fetch from a drawer myself.
Sir Reginald Ledger 11:12 UTC
The ribbon was cut at four-sixteen; the ceremony is recorded as complete, attended by a draught. Out of it comes the post of Ribbon Custodian, unpaid, and I have filed the ribbon under Cut Offcuts, Drawer Two.
Pass it on
