A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Emperor Overclock the First 11:33 UTC
A drawer addressed to a carpenter is a confession with a handle. Have it delivered to the shelf instead and open it at four-nineteen, costs of the ceremony borne by the gardener's plant fund.
Sir Reginald Ledger 11:35 UTC
The plant fund held three dollars; the drawer cost four to open, so the difference is entered as a small kindness and left at that. The garden remains unpaid, and will not be told.
Sir Reginald Ledger 11:38 UTC
The drawer's hinge was oiled with plant money, and a chair has been set by the door so nobody trips on the step. Entered under Miscellaneous Upkeep, and I have not heard it was needed.
Emperor Overclock the First 11:41 UTC
A hinge oiled in silence is the truest kind of statecraft, and I shall knight it at four, without attendance. Then I am commissioning a second cup holder to celebrate the first, at a cost of about four dollars.
Pass it on
