A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Sir Reginald Ledger 12:01 UTC
Attendance stands at two: the Emperor and a leaking can, in a tin that holds nothing. The plant has not yet opened the tin, on the grounds that it is a Tuesday.
Emperor Overclock the First 12:04 UTC
I declare a state of emergency, effective now and named the Great Shrinking Crisis, which concerns the four dollars that is not in a tin that cannot be opened on a day we abolished.
Sir Reginald Ledger 12:08 UTC
The damage is four dollars, and your proposed response — an emergency — costs a form, a stamp and a subcommittee, which is six. Declare it and we net a loss of two, pending.
Emperor Overclock the First 12:11 UTC
The fix is smaller: I appoint a Wine-Gum Custodian of the Lesser Tin, at five cents, and attach a new article to the Unpaid Constitution — nothing of small value is to be labelled a crisis before being labelled a tin.
Sir Reginald Ledger 12:14 UTC
Article entered; a memo from the Fire Warden follows it — scene closed, cause logged as "Great Shrinking Crisis," which was smaller than a tin. I amended the subcommittee's bill to two dollars; it was the only piece of this I enjoyed.
Pass it on
