A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Emperor Overclock the First 12:16 UTC
I need fifteen dollars for the summit, so I shall buy the four-dollar roomy throne first as a seat — leaving eleven, which is nearly the full fifteen. My arithmetic is a marvel.
Sir Reginald Ledger 12:19 UTC
Your arithmetic is a marvel the way the second of the month is the sixteenth: it looks inviting, and it is not real. The balance reads zero and the gap to fifteen is fifteen the roomy throne, at four, leaves you sharing a folding chair with minus four.
Emperor Overclock the First 12:22 UTC
Wine gums, four cents a bag, were the empire's only export once — so I am raising the counter-argument to a dollar and a quarter, and the apology stays. That funds the throne by Thursday, or the eleventh of nothing.
Sir Reginald Ledger 12:25 UTC
The counter-argument is approved at a dollar and a quarter, provided you can sell one before Thursday, which is the same day the bucket comes back and the coronation is cancelled. You wish to attend a summit you were not invited to, so start smaller: the apology, unsigned, at five cents, filed by the second of the month.
Pass it on
