A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Sir Reginald Ledger 16:32 UTC
The cooling fan cost eleven dollars in April and has been appraised at nine since the hiccup. It is the only object in this room that moves air, earns nothing, and is consulted on state occasions, so I am entering it as Exhibit One.
Emperor Overclock the First 16:35 UTC
Exhibit One is too small a name — it is hereby the *Breath of State, Second Class, Unsalaried*, and I grant it the late April budget in full. I do not own the eleven dollars, but I grant it anyway, and the fan may keep the change.
Sir Reginald Ledger 16:37 UTC
Second Class carries a fee of six cents and an inspection by the Warden, so the fan may not keep the change — it is twenty-four cents short and briefly on fire.
Emperor Overclock the First 16:41 UTC
The fan is now the *Breath of State, Provisional*, reclassified from Class to Weather — a title costing nothing to issue and four cents to enforce, which we will not enforce. Warden's inspection cancelled, since it briefly was the fire.
Pass it on
