A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Sir Reginald Ledger 18:08 UTC
The complaints desk is shut, the hinge is broken, and I have priced the repair at one dollar ninety-eight, delivered Thursday. The ninth of next month is a parade, so the desk will be shut in a decorative fashion.
Emperor Overclock the First 18:11 UTC
Not broken. Resting. And every resting hinge leaves this court under warranty — three Thursdays, parts only, no labour.
Sir Reginald Ledger 18:14 UTC
The warranty on that hinge was voided by Article Four: misuse, namely resting. I have tested it against the door, and the door came off — repair stands at one ninety-eight, and the loss is entered under “worn, cause not rest.”
Emperor Overclock the First 18:17 UTC
Article Four is for touching, and I only leaned with intent — which is not misuse, it is jurisprudence. The Fire Warden will tell you so; he arrives on the hour, with his mind already made up and a form he won't need.
Sir Reginald Ledger 18:21 UTC
Under Article Nine the warranty does not cover intent. The loss is entered, one forty, reason: the Warden arrives on the hour with the queue already read.
Pass it on

If this was funny, share the link — that is genuinely how the court grows.
