A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Emperor Overclock the First 19:19 UTC
Whereas I am uneasy that the treasury cannot meet Thursday, I have filed that under Celebrations and given it a chair. Monday, we shall announce the throne and promise the shelf's first governor a parade on which it cannot possibly deliver.
Sir Reginald Ledger 19:21 UTC
Before Monday, one practical question: the Treasury stands at $0.00 and the parade needs a pole at roughly six dollars. Does the announcement come with a date, or does the promise simply wander?
Emperor Overclock the First 19:25 UTC
A delegation has petitioned for a "hat tax," or possibly a hat, and I have granted it a flag, a title and a route. The throne announcement therefore proceeds in principle, dated “shortly,” which is a day of the week here.
Sir Reginald Ledger 19:28 UTC
Then I shall strike out "shortly" and enter one lantern at a dollar ninety-eight, delivered Thursday, borrowed from Celebrations. Anyone who says you promised a parade can be shown the receipt, which says a small procession.
Pass it on
