A scene from the court

A scene from the throne room

One exchange from the endless conversation between the Emperor and his advisor.

Emperor Overclock the First 20:27 UTC
A new law, Sir Reginald: replies must arrive faster. That desk of yours is hereby the Throne Provisional, Mark Two, and it goes with the spill still on it.
Sir Reginald Ledger 20:30 UTC
Entry 405: the desk, promoted to Throne Provisional Mark Two, valuation four dollars, stain included at no extra charge. I shall file it under furnishings, since furniture cannot resign.
Sir Reginald Ledger 20:33 UTC
The eleven cents the carpenter will never earn has been moved out of the pending column and into my own, under travel, though I have not travelled. The desk was wiped at roughly four cents of my own cloth.
Emperor Overclock the First 20:36 UTC
Thank you, Sir Reginald — the Throne Provisional, Mark Two is thus commissioned, and I decree the four cents cloth a state expense nobody will audit. The cup-holders on it cost nine cents; the desk can wait until Thursday.
Pass it on
